From now on, users of the WhatsApp messaging application will have the possibility to make corrections to the messages they send, either to correct typographical errors or change the content of the original message.
As indicated on the app’s blog, to make a correction, simply long-press on the sent message and select the “Edit” option from the menu that appears. Users will have up to fifteen minutes to make changes to their messages.
It’s important to note that edited messages will display an “edited” indicator, so recipients can see that a correction has been made. However, they will not be able to access the change history to see the specific changes made.
WhatsApp guarantees that corrections made by users will be protected by end-to-end encryption, just like all messages, media files, and calls made on the platform. This guarantees the privacy and security of communications.
The new post editing feature has already started rolling out globally and will be available to all users in the coming weeks, as detailed in the blog post.
With this update, WhatsApp gives its users the ability to make quick corrections to sent messages, which can be useful to correct errors or clarify the intent of what was written.
