Following the tragic shooting during the Super Bowl victory parade in Kansas City, star American football player Travis Kelce and his girlfriend, renowned singer Taylor Swift, have come together in generous donations to support those affected. The incident, which occurred on February 14, left one person dead and 22 injured.
Kelce’s foundation, Eighty-Seven Running, contributed a total of $100,000, split into two $50,000 donations, through the GoFundMe platform. These donations are intended to aid the families of two girls, aged eight and ten, who were injured in the shooting. A representative for Kelce confirmed the charitable act to NBC.
Prior to this, Taylor Swift had made a donation of $100,000 on Friday, aimed at supporting the family of Elizabeth López-Galván, a Mexican-origin radio announcer who lost her life in the tragic incident.
The shooting, according to police authorities, was the result of a “dispute” among several individuals, and two teenagers face formal charges while awaiting the judicial process.
The NFL champions’ parade, where the Kansas City Chiefs celebrated their third Super Bowl title in five seasons, was marred by this incident that impacted nearly a million fans gathered to commemorate the team’s success in Las Vegas on February 11.
