A Salem, Oregon, resident won a $52,000-a-year lifetime lottery prize last week. Ruth Salvatore, 73, entered the drawing for the first time and was lucky enough to walk away with the grand prize, the Oregon Lottery reported.
Ruth said she had purchased several tickets and was initially pleased to discover she had won just two dollars. However, her luck took a drastic turn when she saw the jackpot on the last ticket. Filled with excitement, she showed her phone to her family and exclaimed, “Look at this.”
The lucky winner plans to use the money to renovate her home and travel with her husband to Cancun, a popular tourist destination in Mexico. The Oregon Lottery noted that the couple will also celebrate their 52nd wedding anniversary this month, making the number “52” especially meaningful to them.
