A 35-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday in Pinckney, Michigan, after attempting to rob a bank within the town. What makes this incident more interesting is that it was her own mother who gave her a ride in her car but took the risk of alerting a bank employee of her daughter’s intentions.
The mother handed a note to the teller from the drive-through lane, asking him to call the 911 emergency number, the local police department reported on its social media. Immediately, bank employees called the police, who rushed to the scene.
The woman was arrested for attempted armed robbery and other related offenses. The incident reportedly came from her mother’s home, located in nearby Hamburg, just a few miles from the bank.
The Pinckney Police Department, after making the arrest, praised the intelligence of the bank staff, who took the note as sufficient reason to alert the police. They also stressed that, without their assistance, the incident could have had much more serious consequences. However, no further details about the case were provided. The suspect is currently in custody, with bail set at $250,000.
