Being a music legend—an example for several generations, controversial, and always on everyone’s lips—is a task that can only be accomplished by those who adore their profession and defend it against all criticism and haters.
Madonna, the queen of pop, appeared yesterday at the Grammys celebration with a speech fit for a rebellious woman.
Madonna’s speech was full of rebelliousness and controversy, where she mentioned that, throughout her four decades in music, she has learned that if you are called shocking, surprising, dangerous, trouble-making, or provocative, it means you are certainly on the right track.
She used the occasion to express gratitude for the existence of rebellious people, who are the ones who pave the way and take all the blows.
“Growing old is a sin, you will be criticized, you will be vilified, and you definitely won’t get played on the radio,” Madonna said after winning the Billboard Woman of the Year award in 2016.
“People say I’m very controversial, but I think the most controversial thing I’ve done is stay.” Despite the fact that Madonna’s message was the most direct, positive, and empowered, social media quickly echoed about the artist’s new look. There have been several comments on Twitter criticizing her appearance, comparing it with the doll from the horror saga Saw or with a satanic statue—
a series of comments that certainly should be condemned.
