In a live interview after Tesla’s AGM, Elon Musk defended his decisions as CEO of Twitter and announced that he will spend more time running Tesla, promising new fully autonomous cars for next year.
Musk stated that he will say what he wants, and if that results in losing money, so be it. This was in response to a question from the host [name redacted] about his controversial and provocative tweets, including a recent one in which he accused George Soros, a Jewish investor and philanthropist, of “hating humanity.”
Since acquiring Twitter six months ago, the platform has experienced the departure of numerous advertisers due to a relaxation in moderating problematic content and allowing the return of banned figures, such as former President Donald Trump.
Musk also defended the mass layoffs at Twitter, claiming they were necessary to achieve balance, and justified the ban on remote work in the name of productivity and morale. He criticized the idea that everyone should return to work while some do not, calling it absurd. In addition, he revealed that he only takes two to three vacation days a year.
Recently, he appointed Linda Yaccarino, a prominent US media and advertising figure, as CEO of Twitter. Her mission will be to attract advertisers and manage the delicate balance between upholding absolute freedom of speech and balancing political and commercial constraints.
Musk plans to devote more time to developing artificial intelligence (AI) in Tesla’s electric vehicles. He expressed his belief that at some point Tesla will have a conversational AI program, similar to ChatGPT, adopted by millions of people around the world. He also predicted that there will soon be three million self-driving cars thanks to AI and remote on-board software updates.
