American actress and comedian Roseanne Barr has generated controversy again by making ironic comments in which she stated that “no one died in the Holocaust.” These statements were made during an episode of the podcast “This Past Weekend,” hosted by comedian Theo Von.
During the conversation, Barr addressed several topics, such as the 2020 presidential election, censorship on social networks, and the concept of truth in the United States. In a sarcastic tone, he mentioned that Joe Biden had obtained 81 million votes and won in only 36 counties, which he considered unbelievable. He then made the controversial comment, denying the Holocaust and suggesting that Jews were the cause of the world’s problems.
Importantly, Barr later revealed that she herself identifies as 100% Jewish, which caused confusion among critics. Ronald Lauder, president of the World Jewish Congress, called Barr’s comments “pure Nazism,” while Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the Anti-Defamation League, called them irresponsible and reprehensible.
However, his son Jake Pentland and the podcast host defended Barr by arguing that he was using sarcasm and satire in his comments and that he was not anti-Semitic. They claimed that people were taking his words out of context and that they should focus on more important problems in America.
This is not the first time Barr has found herself embroiled in controversy. In May 2018, her TV show ‘Roseanne’ was canceled after she made racist comments about Valerie Jarrett, a former advisor to Barack Obama. Previously, on her Twitter account, Barr had also made offensive comparisons, which led to the cancellation of her show by ABC Entertainment.
