In a social media post on Thursday, former President Donald Trump called on President Joe Biden, his potential rival in the upcoming November elections, to undergo “a cognitive test” due to the “terrible decisions” he makes. Trump, 77, often boasts about his performance on a simple dementia-detection test, raising concerns about the advanced age of both candidates.
“Joe Biden The Rascal should take a cognitive test. Maybe we can find out why he makes such terrible decisions,” the 45th president posted on the Truth Social platform. “I took two and aced them (without errors!). All presidents, or those who aspire to become president, should take this test mandatory,” he emphasized.
Biden, 81, underwent an annual check-up on Wednesday, with doctors declaring him “fit” for office and noting no significant changes in his health over the past year. The White House clarified that Biden did not undergo a cognitive test as it was deemed unnecessary.
“He takes a cognitive test every day as he moves from one topic to another, understanding the level of detail on these issues,” stated White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre.
Most Americans, according to polls, are not eager for a rematch between Biden and Trump in November due to their age. Trump frequently mocks Biden’s verbal errors and somewhat rigid walking style.
In a recent report, Biden was described as “an elder” with memory limitations. The former Republican president is also prone to verbal gaffes, having mentioned Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban as the leader of Turkey and, on one occasion, confusing former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi with his primary rival, Nikki Haley.
