On June 16, beachgoers in Clearwater Beach, Florida, could be seen fleeing in panic from a sea spinner approaching the shore and dragging beach equipment with it.
A video captured by Danielle Tarjoman shows the sea spinner careening through the waves and sand, tossing beach chairs, towels, and umbrellas into the air.
The Clearwater Police Department shared additional video of the spinning top that same day, reporting that “two people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after being struck by flying debris.”
This incident made clear the danger that a natural phenomenon such as a spinning sea top can pose. Beachgoers were surprised by the sudden appearance of the spinning sea on the beach, leading to momentary chaos and a quick evacuation to safety.
The video captures the force and violence of the sea’s spinning top, which drags everything in its path and sends objects flying through the air. Beach chairs, towels, and umbrellas become projectiles in the midst of this whirlwind, posing a potential danger to anyone in their path.
Unfortunately, two people were injured by the flying debris and required medical attention. Although their injuries were minor, this incident underscores the importance of taking precautions in the presence of natural phenomena and following the safety instructions of the authorities.
This event highlights the need to be prepared and alert to natural phenomena and to follow safety instructions to ensure the protection of all involved.
