A police operation aimed at thwarting the plan of several suspects who were planning to rob a road toll in the municipality of Cristalina, in the Brazilian state of Goiás, has left seven people dead. According to information from the G1 portal, the victims, who were part of a criminal gang, were located in a country house in the municipality of Nova Gama. Upon arrival, the police confronted the criminals in a shootout in which both sides exchanged gunfire.
During the operation, 11 firearms, ammunition, explosives, four stolen vehicles, gloves, masks, and other items presumed to have been prepared for use in the criminal action were also seized. The police reported that investigations into this criminal gang had been ongoing for several months and that they were able to identify the location of the criminals after intercepting communications between them.
It is worth noting that Brazil has seen a significant increase in violence and crime rates in recent years, with armed robberies and assaults a major problem in many of the country’s cities and regions. Authorities have intensified operations and actions to confront criminal groups, but the task remains arduous due to the complexity of the situation and the violence generated in some confrontations.
