Authorities have reported that the body of missing British actor Julian Sands has been identified in California. Hikers found human remains on Mount San Antonio last weekend. Sands, known for his role in the 1985 film “Room with a View,” disappeared on January 13 in the mountainous region known as Mount Baldy, located outside Los Angeles at an altitude of approximately 3,000 meters.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the human remains found by hikers belong to Julian Sands, 65. The cause of his death is still under investigation, pending further examinations. No further details have been provided.
Sands was an experienced mountaineer and used to express his happiness when he was near the summit of a mountain on a beautiful, cold morning. He had three children, two of them with his wife, writer Evgenia Citkowitz.
During the months of December and January, California was hit by heavy storms, which caused significant snowfall on mountaintops, including Mount San Antonio.
The summit where Sands disappeared is the highest in the San Gabriel mountain range and is a popular destination for Los Angeles residents. Although no details have been provided about the circumstances of his disappearance and death, his identification ends the uncertainty surrounding his case.
