The Powerball jackpot has increased to approximately $1 billion after no tickets matched all six numbers in Monday night’s drawing.
The winning numbers were 17, 8, 9, 41, 5, and the red Powerball 21.
This Monday’s jackpot ranks as the third-biggest Powerball jackpot and the seventh-biggest jackpot in US lottery history, according to Powerball. The largest Powerball jackpot of $2.04 billion was won in California on November 7.
The next draw will take place this Wednesday, and the jackpot is estimated to be $1 billion, with a cash value of $516.8 million.
As for the chances of winning the Powerball jackpot, the odds are 1 in 292.2 million, as listed on the Powerball website.
There have been 38 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner since the drawing on April 19, when a ticket in Ohio matched all six numbers and won a jackpot valued at $252.6 million.
In Saturday’s drawing, although there were no grand prize winners, three tickets sold in Colorado and Texas matched all five main numbers and each won a $1 million prize, according to Powerball.
The Mega Millions jackpot has also grown to an estimated $640 million after there were no winners last Friday, according to its website.
The next Mega Millions drawing will take place this Tuesday at 11:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
