In a surprising turn of events, beloved “Grey’s Anatomy” actor Patrick Dempsey has been crowned People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” for the year 2023, succeeding Marvel star Chris Evans. At 57, Dempsey expressed his utter shock upon hearing the news, confessing that he initially thought it was a prank, stating, “I’ve always been the bridesmaid.”
Despite his initial disbelief, Dempsey graciously accepted the honor, emphasizing the positive impact he hopes to make with his newfound recognition. “It’s nice to have the recognition, and certainly my ego takes a little bump, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive,” Dempsey shared with People for the cover story.
Dempsey’s popularity soared over the years, largely due to his iconic role as the charming neurosurgeon Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd in ABC’s long-running series “Grey’s Anatomy.” His talent also shone in the 2007 musical film “Enchanted,” where he portrayed a modern-day prince charming.
