Terror struck Paris once more as a 26-year-old man carried out a knife attack near the Eiffel Tower, resulting in one fatality and at least two injured individuals, reportedly tourists. The incident occurred just after 9:30 p.m. this Saturday near one of the Seine River bridges in the 15th district of the capital. The police have cordoned off the area, disrupting traffic in one of the city’s most tourist-centric zones.
BFM reported that the assailant is flagged under security (S file) and allegedly shouted “Allah Akbar” during the attack. As of the latest update, the Antiterrorist Prosecutor’s Office is examining the case’s evidence. The attacker purportedly used a knife and a hammer during the assault.
French Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin arrived at the scene past midnight after a phone conversation with President Emmanuel Macron, who is in Qatar and remains briefed on the case details throughout the night.
