Kate, the Princess of Wales, has been discharged from the hospital and is back home on the Windsor estate, according to a statement from Kensington Palace on Monday. The 42-year-old royal underwent abdominal surgery at the London Clinic, and her recovery is described as “good progress.”
The surgery was performed to address a non-cancerous condition, although specific details have not been disclosed, as the British royal family generally treats medical matters as private. Kate’s father-in-law, King Charles, also recently received treatment at the same hospital. He spent three nights there for planned treatment to address an enlarged prostate.
Both Kate and King Charles expressed gratitude to the medical team at the London Clinic, particularly the dedicated nursing staff. Queen Camilla made regular visits during King Charles’s hospital stay. Kate is expected to resume public duties after Easter, and Prince William, her husband and heir-to-the-throne, has postponed his engagements to care for their three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
The health conditions of the royal family members have been subject to public attention, with Charles choosing to share his medical journey to encourage other men to undergo regular health checks. He visited Kate in the hospital before undergoing a “corrective procedure” for his benign, enlarged prostate. Charles’s public engagements have also been temporarily postponed to allow for a period of recuperation.
