Jennifer Lawrence, the Oscar-winning actress, attributes her desire to return to work to her involvement in the R-rated comedy film “No Hard Feelings.” After taking a two-year hiatus from acting between 2019 and 2021 and becoming a mother in early 2022, Lawrence couldn’t resist the allure of the exceptional script.
When she first received the script, Lawrence confessed that she had no intention of taking on any projects and didn’t want to work. However, after reading it, she described it as the funniest script she had ever encountered, prompting a change of heart. Lawrence, who not only acted but also produced the movie, shared her enthusiasm at the film’s premiere in London, stating that they were on set just four months later.
In “No Hard Feelings,” Lawrence portrays Maddie, an Uber driver who faces the risk of losing her home after losing her car. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she discovers a job listing from a wealthy couple seeking someone to date their introverted son, Percy, and help him come out of his shell before he begins college.
Director and co-writer Gene Stupnitsky revealed that the film was inspired by a real Craigslist ad from 2013, and the character of Maddie was specifically written with Jennifer Lawrence in mind. Andrew Feldman, Lawrence’s young co-star, temporarily halted his studies at Harvard University to take on the role of Percy. Lawrence personally informed Feldman that he had been selected for the part and apologized for disrupting his academic semester. However, both Harvard and Feldman agreed that it was an opportunity of a lifetime that he couldn’t pass up.
“No Hard Feelings” is set to be released in theaters worldwide in mid-June, offering audiences the chance to enjoy this comedy.
