Chris Pratt, the actor who rose to fame with the first “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie in 2014, chose to wait until the Los Angeles world premiere of the third and final installment of the franchise before watching it.
Pratt had only seen a couple of unfinished sequences of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” but he wanted to experience the entire film alongside his friends, family, fans, and cast and crew. Pratt plays Star-Lord in the film, which follows him and his team of alien misfits as they work to save their friend Rocket.
The movie pits them against the High Evolutionary, played by Chukwudi Iwuji. Other cast members include Zoe Saldana as Star-Lord’s love interest, Gamora; Karen Gillan as her cyborg sister Nebula; Vin Diesel as tree-being Groot; and Pom Klementieff as the insectoid Mantis.
Director James Gunn, who is also co-chairman of DC Studios, wanted to make the most of the third installment and the last time with his lineup of cast members, so he shared a special moment with Pratt before the movie premiered.
Gunn stated that it was harder to create the third installment because he needed to provide an ending for each character that was respectful of them and the actors who played them. Gunn takes pleasure in seeing the impact that the “Guardians” movies have on fans, including meeting someone in Seoul wearing the Mantis antennae and crying because they were so thrilled to see the third movie. The third installment of “Guardians of the Galaxy” is set to open on Friday.
