London’s Royal Opera House hosted a star-studded affair as luminaries from the realms of movies, music, fashion, and sports gathered to honor the 2023 GQ Men of the Year. The elegant gala dinner, orchestrated by the renowned men’s fashion and style magazine, showcased the achievements of the year’s cover stars, including actors Jeremy Allen White, Andrew Scott, Ncuti Gatwa, and the musical trio Boygenius.
Boygenius, the US indie rock group comprising Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker, graced the event just days after earning six Grammy nominations, including a coveted Album of the Year nod for their debut studio album, “The Record.”
Fresh from premiering his new A24 wrestling biopic, “The Iron Claw,” in Dallas, Texas, “The Bear” star Jeremy Allen White expressed his surprise at being honored. He reflected, “I never thought I’d be in a room like this. I never thought I’d be here with all these people I admire so much,” acknowledging that his standout performance in the hit show had opened numerous doors for him.
Ebon Moss-Bachrach, White’s co-star in “The Bear,” hinted at the anticipation surrounding Season 3 but remained discreet about details. Andrew Scott, acclaimed for his one-man rendition of Chekhov’s “Uncle Vanya” in London’s West End, shared his post-show recovery and gratitude for continuing to work during challenging times.
The GQ Men of the Year gala not only celebrated the talent and accomplishments of these luminaries but also provided a glamorous backdrop for the convergence of diverse fields within the entertainment industry.
