George Foreman, a former heavyweight boxing champion, recently walked the red carpet at the premiere of “Big George Foreman: The Miraculous Story of the Once and Future Heavyweight Champion of the World” in Los Angeles. The film follows Foreman’s life story from his impoverished childhood to his success in the boxing world, his transition to the church, and his eventual return to boxing.
Actor Khris Davis portrays Foreman in the movie and dedicated himself to the role, studying the famous boxer’s life from the moment he landed the job until the end of filming. Davis expressed his admiration for the dedication required to achieve great things, explaining that the role showed him the lengths he could go to achieve his goals.
However, the role came with challenges. Davis had to significantly alter his appearance to match Foreman’s physique when he returned to the boxing ring after leaving the church. In just five weeks, Davis gained 50 pounds, consuming 7,000 calories a day through a pescatarian diet that excluded dairy and sugar.
The movie highlights Foreman’s flaws and mistakes, but also his opportunity for redemption and a second chance. Davis praised Foreman for being open to the exploration of his flaws, making the story more impactful by demonstrating how a person can overcome their mistakes and turn their life around.
“Big George Foreman” premiered on April 28 and tells a story that resonates with perseverance, redemption, and the willingness to work hard to achieve one’s goals.
