A 13-year-old girl in Florida miraculously survived a shark attack while swimming at a local beach. Ella Reed was enjoying a swim in waist-deep water on North Hutchinson Island when a shark bit her multiple times, targeting her stomach, finger, arm, and leg.
Recalling the terrifying incident, Ella described how she acted on instinct and went into fight mode when she saw the shark approaching. She vividly remembers the shark’s head coming up and biting her stomach. With quick reflexes, she hit the shark’s nose or face with her other hand, accidentally slipping her finger into its mouth.
Despite being latched onto by the shark, Ella remained focused on her safety and used her strength to fight back. She recounted hitting the shark and trying to get it away from her before making a swift escape. The adrenaline rushing through her body initially masked the pain of the bites, leaving her and her friend in shock.
Once out of the water, Ella’s friend rushed her home on a golf cart, where her mother, Devin Reed, immediately took action. Recognizing the severity of the situation, Devin wrapped her daughter in a towel and swiftly transported her to the nearby hospital. Doctors revealed that if Ella hadn’t fought off the shark, her injuries could have been much worse.
Despite the traumatic experience, Ella maintains her bravery and resilience. She expressed her desire to return to the water once her stitches are removed, demonstrating her determination and love for the ocean.
