Beyoncé continues to break barriers and make history, now becoming the first black woman to claim the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart with her new song, “Texas Hold ’Em.” Released alongside “16 Carriages,” both tracks mark Beyoncé’s debut entries on the Hot Country Songs chart.
“Texas Hold ’Em” has not only dominated the Hot Country Songs chart but has also made its mark on country radio, securing Beyoncé’s inaugural position on the Country Airplay chart at No. 54. The song’s success on both charts underscores Beyoncé’s versatility and broad appeal across music genres.
Last year, Tracy Chapman achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first black woman to top the Country Airplay chart as a solo songwriter with Luke Combs’ rendition of her 1988 hit, “Fast Car.” Beyoncé now follows in Chapman’s footsteps, making her mark on the country music scene.
Both “Texas Hold ’Em” and “16 Carriages” are featured on Beyoncé’s highly anticipated eighth solo studio album, Act II, scheduled for release on March 29. The announcement came through a teaser video on Beyoncé’s Instagram during the broadcast of a Verizon commercial she appeared in during Super Bowl LVIII. Act II is part of a trilogy following her 2022 album, Renaissance, which was complemented by a worldwide concert film capturing her acclaimed Renaissance world tour.
As Beyoncé continues to redefine genres and shatter records, her influence reaches new heights, making her an enduring force in the music industry.
