The Swedish music group ABBA has confirmed that they will not be reuniting on the Eurovision stage next year, putting an end to fan speculation. Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, two former members of the quartet, announced in an interview with the BBC that they do not intend to participate. According to Benny Andersson, if one of them says “no,” then it’s a “no” for everyone. He stated that there is no chance of ABBA singing or appearing on stage next year.
Although Sweden will host Eurovision due to Loreen’s victory, the hope of seeing the group reunited after 50 years since their victory with “Waterloo” is fading. The remaining members of ABBA, who sold millions of records worldwide, believe they can celebrate the group’s 50th anniversary without needing to be on the Eurovision stage.
After nearly four decades of separation, ABBA released a new album in 2021 titled “Journey” and performed digital avatars at concerts using holograms. Although they have been successful with this new form of presentation, they have made it clear that they have no plans to reunite as a group at live events.
ABBA fans had nurtured hopes of seeing the iconic band at Eurovision, but it is now confirmed that this will not be the case. Despite this, ABBA’s legacy lives on, and their music continues to be celebrated by millions of people around the world.
