Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has denied Elon Musk’s claims that Russian President Vladimir Putin had called him a “war criminal.” At a press conference, Peskov stated that Musk had been misinformed or told falsehoods and that Putin had never made such a comment. The SpaceX and Tesla founder had tweeted on Sunday that he had been told that the Russian leader had called him a “war criminal” for helping Ukraine and that he was not exactly his best friend.
This was in response to a Twitter user who asked why the social network was allowing Russian leaders to be present while not complying with sanctions against Moscow. Musk responded that all news is propaganda and that people should decide for themselves.
This comes after former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev made a post claiming that Ukraine would disappear because no foreign government needed a country controlled by the “Nazi regime.” Medvedev’s comment was a response to sanctions imposed by Ukraine against Russia for its role in the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine.
Musk, who has expressed support for Ukraine in the past, has been in the media spotlight recently due to his offer to sell billions of dollars’ worth of Tesla stock to fund a colony on Mars and his continued criticism of governments and regulators around the world.
