In a forum among political organizations from around the world, the leader of the Communist Party and President of China, Xi Jinping, raised the need for modernization plans to be more inclusive and prioritize the welfare of the people. He also pointed out the importance of promoting prosperity, social stability, environmental care, and sustainable development. Xi emphasized that any progress program must contemplate the construction of a better planet for future generations.
The Chinese president called for respect for the right of each nation to explore its own path to modernization without abandoning global cooperation and solidarity to ensure equitable access to growth opportunities. He also vindicated China’s goal of becoming a modern socialist state by mid-century and the CCP’s commitment to strengthen exchanges with other parties to establish a new model of international relations.
Regarding its participation in the global market, Xi assured that China will open its doors more to the world, offer better domestic products, contribute with its own solutions to reduce the North-South gap, and seek to accelerate the construction of the Silk Road and Belt initiatives. The Chinese leader also denied colonizing, expansionist, or hegemonic pretensions on the part of his country and rejected cold war or confrontational attitudes under the banner of democracy.
Finally, Xi proposed the defense of common values such as peace, justice, and tolerance among different civilizations. The forum between the CCP and other political organizations from different nations around the world was created to discuss the role of these organizations in modernization plans. China organized a similar summit in 2017, which was attended by more than 1,000 delegates from 500 parties from 160 territories.
