It is widely known that Shakira has been a highly talked-about figure in recent months, primarily due to her split from Gerard Piqué after over a decade-long relationship and becoming the mother of Milan and Sasha. Despite her difficult emotional circumstances, she has become a highly influential character, with record-breaking playbacks and generating buzz with her controversial songs.
Recently, the Super Bowl 2023 organization announced that Rihanna would be headlining the halftime show, and prior to the event, they conducted a survey asking fans which of the artists collaborating with the US celebrity was their favorite. In the survey, Shakira competed against prominent figures like Eminem, Drake, and Kanye West and emerged victorious with 46.8% of the votes, far ahead of the runner-up, Eminem, who received 23.7% of the preferences.
The Colombian singer’s overwhelming victory in the survey, stemming from her collaboration with Rihanna on the song “Can’t Remember to Forget You,” has led many to speculate that the organization may reach out to Shakira to participate in the famous halftime show for the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. However, no official statement has been made.
Shakira has prior experience performing in the Super Bowl, having taken the stage with Jennifer Lopez in the 2020 event, prior to COVID-19 lockdown measures. The show included a performance by Emme Muñiz and a message of support for Puerto Rico, which was undergoing a political crisis at the time.
