Automotive industry executive Thomas Schäfer has been appointed to lead the world’s second-largest automotive sales conglomerate, Volkswagen Group, which delivered 4.5 million vehicles in 2022.
Prior to joining Volkswagen, Schäfer held various management positions in the automotive industry at Daimler, where he focused on production, quality control, and vehicle delivery management, among other aspects.
Schäfer understands that the skills and techniques required for automotive manufacturing have evolved with technology, but for him, the most important thing is that the people who join his team understand the brand, work as a team, and strive for common goals. He looks for people who want to work and live for the brand while seeing the purpose of their work.
For him, the automotive industry is like a team sport and needs players who are willing to fight for the team instead of winning individually.
