A group of gunners from the private military contractor Wagner has released a video asking the Russian Defense Ministry for more ammunition to fight in Ukraine.
In the video, a mercenary points out the shortage of ammunition for howitzers, ammunition for anti-tank weapons, and mortars and explains that they are turning to their colleagues and friends in the Ministry of Defense, as they are completely out of ammunition supplies and urgently need help. Wagner gunners claim they are doing complex combat tasks and providing cover for their assault groups, but the lack of ammunition is limiting their ability to continue the fight.
The Wagner mercenary group has become a key player in the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Russia is using this private company to supply thousands of Wagner forces, many of whom are recruited from prisons, to wage war in eastern Ukraine.
In response to the video, Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin has called the gunners “wonderful fighters” and “heroes” and urged the Defense Ministry to fulfill their requests. Prigozhin has asked to pay attention to the fact that these wonderful fighters are heroes who die for the fatherland, and they have not discredited the Defense Ministry in any way.
For now, the Ministry of Defense has not publicly responded to the request, which creates uncertainty as to whether the aid will reach the Wagner fighters on the battlefield.
