Hollywood actor Jeremy Renner suffered a serious accident on January 1, 2023, while using his 14,330-pound Snowcat vehicle to clear snow from his Lake Tahoe home. The vehicle struck him and caused extensive injuries, including 30 broken bones, orthopedic injuries, and chest trauma. Renner’s nephew, Alexander Fries, explained to police that his uncle attempted to save him from the path of the vehicle but then tried to jump back aboard the Snowcat, which caused him to be run over and dragged under the vehicle.
At the scene, the bloody moment emergency crews struggle to save the actor’s life can be seen in a video recorded by a police officer’s dashcam. The police and a team of five medics worked together to save Renner’s life. The actor was flown by helicopter to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, Nevada, where he received surgeries and intensive care.
Renner’s neighbors and nephew called 911 and applied a tourniquet to Renner’s leg to stop the bleeding before emergency help arrived. In the 911 call, the neighbor informed emergency services that Renner was “pinned” under the vehicle and had shallow breathing. Emergency services soon arrived and took him to the hospital.
Renner, known for his roles in the Marvel movies “The Avengers” and “Hawkeye,” posted photos of the accident on Good Morning America and thanked the doctors and health care personnel who saved him on a visit to the hospital. Despite serious injuries, Renner managed to recover and return home from the hospital in January 2023.
