The secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, Alexei Danylov, told the Report agency that Ukraine seeks to end the conflict “completely” before winter arrives.
Asked why Kyiv is postponing its counteroffensive against Russian forces, Danylov replied that the war is a complicated affair and that they can only wait and be patient.
The official avoided revealing the exact date of the counterattack, noting that everyone interprets the expression “in the near future” in their own way. However, he assured that the action would start at the right time, taking into account all factors, neither too early nor too late, but just in time. Moreover, he confessed that Ukraine intends to “put an end” to the conflict before winter.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed on Thursday that they need more time to prepare their counteroffensive and avoid significant losses. He mentioned that they would lose many people and considered that unacceptable, so they chose to wait.
However, Yevgeny Prigózhin, founder of the private military group Wagner, rejected the president’s statements and claimed that the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has already begun. Through his social networks, Prigózhin accused Zelensky of misleading the public and assured them that the counteroffensive was in full swing.
In addition, several correspondents reported a significant escalation of Ukrainian forces and alleged advances along the contact line. However, the Russian Defense Ministry denied these reports and reported that statements about Ukrainian advances in the zone of special military operations do not correspond to reality.
