Italy is shaken after a tragic loss in a plane crash. A five-year-old girl was killed on Saturday when a military aerobatic patrol plane crashed near Turin, northern Italy, during a training exercise.
The unfortunate incident occurred when an MB-339 training plane crashed to the ground in the middle of takeoff. The device, piloted by Major Oscar Del Do, lost altitude inexplicably and crashed before the pilot managed to eject. The exact causes of the accident are still unknown, although one of the hypotheses points to a possible impact with a bird.
Tragically, the fire resulting from the impact affected a car that was passing at the time, carrying four people on board. The girl, who had come with her parents to witness a training session for the Italian Air Force acrobatic patrol, lost her life. Her nine-year-old brother was seriously injured, while her parents, as well as the pilot, suffered minor injuries in the accident.
