During a PSOE campaign event in Valladolid, the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, announced on Sunday that he would allocate 38.5 million euros to the autonomous communities to promote and expand the mental health strategy in the country.
In his speech, Sánchez highlighted the importance of making mental health visible and stressed the need to allocate economic resources for this purpose, in addition to avoiding the associated stigma. He emphasized that it is possible to overcome challenges and that life is worth living.
According to party sources, of the announced investment, which will be approved by the Council of Ministers next Tuesday, 14.5 million euros will be used to improve the equipment in health centers.
It is worth mentioning that the day before, at a rally in Valencia, Sánchez announced an additional investment of 580 million euros for primary care. He highlighted the importance of defending public health as a tribute to the victims of the pandemic and announced that these millions will be used to strengthen and modernize the 13,000 health centers throughout Spain.
