According to a recent source, filming on Batman: Part 2 has officially begun. The Batman and other Elseworlds brands are still being developed by DC Studios in addition to their work on the new DC Universe. In this incarnation of the Caped Crusader, Robert Pattinson plays the youthful Bruce Wayne. Instead of following a Dark Knight who was still a work in progress, The Batman eschewed the conventional origin narrative. After The Batman 2’s box office and critical success, Warner Bros. gave it their official approval. Officially appointed to pen and direct the follow-up is Matt Reeves.
While there hasn’t been much progress on The Batman: Part 2, it is getting closer to happening. Principal photography is scheduled to start at Warner Bros. Leavesden Studios in England in November, according to Production Weekly (via Batman-News). It makes sense that the sequel would be shot at the same location as The Batman was. Both Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Studios have not yet confirmed the report.
Pattinson is the only probable cast member for The Batman 2 who has been confirmed to return. Yet, there is a good probability that many of the cast members from The Batman will return, particularly Colin Farrell’s character, the Penguin, who will have his own spinoff series on HBO Max. The Batman 2 will premiere in theaters on October 3, 2025, after the show airs, as DC Studios revealed last month. That will follow Superman: Legacy as the second movie to be released in 2025.
One of the most talked-about theories regarding The Batman 2’s antagonists has been their identity. Several cast members expressed interest in the Court of Owls joining the franchise during the press tour for The Batman. Despite the fact that The Joker made his debut in the first movie, Reeves has stated he is unsure if he will appear in The Batman 2. Barry Keoghan might still make another teasing appearance and then take on a greater role in a subsequent Batman-related project.
Principal photography is to begin later this year, so casting news will undoubtedly surface in the months before shooting begins. There might be characters from the original series in The Batman 2, given that Pattinson’s Batman is rumored to show up in The Penguin. It will be easier to predict what will happen to Pattinson’s Dark Knight in the upcoming episodes once information about The Batman: Part II becomes public.
