A Falcon 9 rocket from SpaceX was launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base of the United States Space Force in California. The objective of the launch was to place a group of 21 satellites belonging to Iridium and OneWeb into low Earth orbit.
According to Elon Musk’s company, the first stage of the rocket successfully landed on the autonomous maritime platform called “Of Course I Still Love You,” located in the Pacific Ocean. This rocket stage has been previously used in various missions, including Sentinel-6, Michael Freilich, DART, Transporter-7, and seven other Starlink missions.
SpaceX confirmed the deployment of the five satellites from the American company Iridium approximately one hour after the launch, followed by the deployment of the 16 satellites from the British company OneWeb. It is worth noting that this is the second consecutive launch by SpaceX in less than a day, as they launched 22 satellites as part of their Starlink constellation on Friday.
With these launches, SpaceX continues to expand its presence in space and its goal of creating a global constellation of satellites to provide internet connectivity from space. The Iridium and OneWeb satellites will play an important role in improving coverage and internet connectivity in different parts of the world.
