Selena Gomez has surpassed Kylie Jenner to become the most followed woman on Instagram, with a total of 381 million followers. The “Lose You to Love Me” singer has managed to dethrone Jenner, who has 380 million followers. It is worth noting that soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo is the most followed person overall, with 551 million followers, while Lionel Messi follows him with 432 million.
Gomez recently posted a photo in which she is seen enjoying a cocktail at a restaurant. This post has been captioned with the words “I deleted this photo once because I thought maybe it was too much, but oh well,” which has generated a lot of interaction on the platform.
The “Only Murders in the Building” actress returned to posting personally on her Instagram page in January after deleting the app from her phone for more than four years and giving posting rights to a member of her team due to her poor relationship with the platform. Gomez has revealed that when Instagram became her entire world, it generated a dangerous inferiority complex in which she felt she wasn’t beautiful enough. This led her to wear makeup all the time, never wanting to be seen without it.
Taking a break from social media has been the best decision she has made in terms of her mental health. She now has a system where she still doesn’t have her passwords, which has allowed her to get away from the unnecessary comparisons and hate she used to receive on the platform. Although she occasionally feels the need to log in, her relationship with herself has improved significantly.
