The comedy film About My Father, which is loosely based on the life and relationship of comedian Sebastian Maniscalco with his father Salvatore Maniscalco, premiered at the AMC River East 21 in Chicago on Saturday. The co-writer and star of the film were joined by his father, who is played by Robert De Niro, and other cast members, including Leslie Bibb and Kim Cattrall.
Maniscalco grew up in Arlington Heights, Illinois, making it appropriate for the premiere to be held in Chicago. Bibb wore a black spaghetti-strap dress with black heels, while Cattrall wore a green dress and white blazer with coral pink heeled sandals. Maniscalco wore an all-white ensemble of dress pants, a top, and a light jacket with matching sneakers. The movie’s storyline is based on Maniscalco’s relationship with his father, who is an Italian immigrant.
The film also features Laura Terruso, Anders Holm, Brett Dier, and David Rasche. About My Father marks De Niro’s second recent collaboration with a comedian, following his work in The Joker with Joaquin Phoenix. The promotional campaign for the film has begun as it gets ready for its theatrical release.
