An unfortunate incident took place last night in which an unidentified woman between 25 and 30 years of age lost her life on the Román Baldorioty de Castro avenue after being hit twice by two different vehicles. The police, who are investigating the case, reported that the woman was walking towards Carolina from San Juan “outside of the pedestrian crossing” around 9:00 p.m. when she was hit by the first driver, who then fled the scene. Later, a driver of a Mazda B2200 hit her again, resulting in her death at the scene.
The preliminary investigation was carried out by Agent Emmanuel Cruz, who is part of the Road Patrol Division in San Juan. He referred the case to the Homicide Division of the Criminal Investigation Corps (CIC) of San Juan, along with prosecutor Sarimar Andreu, to continue with the investigation.
The police are asking anyone who witnessed the accident or has information that can help them solve the case to come forward and contact them. They have assured the public that all calls will remain confidential.
Incidents like this highlight the importance of pedestrian safety and the need for drivers to exercise caution when driving.
