New York Fashion Week continues to dazzle with its diversity of proposals on the fourth day of shows for the spring-summer 2024 season. On this day, two designers stood out for offering completely different but equally captivating proposals.
Michael Kors, known for his timeless elegance, surprised the public with a collection that evoked the lightness and carefreeness of the holidays. His parade, located along the East River, transported attendees on a seaside stroll. Kors presented light fabrics, embroidered lace, miniskirts and blouses, and pants with tops, all worn with sandals. The jazz touch provided by legendary pianist Burt Bacharach added to the festive atmosphere. Kors reimagined the iconic wicker basket popularized by Jane Birkin, paying homage to the British icon’s relaxed and elegant attitude.
In contrast, Altuzarra’s show was held inside the Manhattan Public Library, creating a harrowing atmosphere inspired by “Rosemary’s Baby,” a masterpiece of fantasy literature. The collection featured pearl-embellished satin babydoll dresses, skirts, and ensembles, as well as sheer organza veils, creating a mysterious and enigmatic aesthetic. Finally, Tory Burch opted for calm in the midst of the chaos of today’s world. Her presentation took place at the Museum of Natural History in New York, where she experimented with miniskirts under parkas, vibrantly colored jackets, and colored glass lenses. She stood out with original pieces, such as a viscose knit cape and dress set with rounded reliefs. The designer cleverly reintroduced the corset, fusing it with “beautiful femininity.”
