The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced Wednesday its 2023 inductee class, which includes rapper Missy Elliott, the late singer-songwriter George Michael, and the rap-rock band Rage Against the Machine.
Also included on the list are eclectic rock singer-songwriter Kate Bush, country music icon Willie Nelson, folk-rock singer Sheryl Crow, and R&B group The Spinners. The inductees will be formally inducted at the annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in New York on November 3, 2023, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame president John Sykes said this year’s selection “reflects the diverse artists and sounds that define rock and roll.” Induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is possible 25 years after an artist’s first commercial music release and is voted on by a body of more than 1,000 peers, music historians, and industry veterans.
The 2023 induction coincides with the 50th anniversary of the hip-hop genre and the 90th birthday of the legendary Willie Nelson.
