Following a two-year suspension in the wake of the uprising on January 6, 2018, Facebook parent company Meta has decided to reinstate former President Donald Trump’s personal account.
In a blog post published on Wednesday, the firm stated that it will be implementing “new guardrails” to ensure that there are no “repeat offenders” who breach its policies.
Meta, which has its headquarters in Menlo Park, California, has issued a statement in which it says, “In the case that Mr. Trump posts further violating content, the content will be removed and he will be suspended for between one month and two years, depending on the severity of the offense.”
Trump criticized Facebook’s move to ban his account in a post that he published on his own social media network, at the same time as he lauded the platform that he runs, Truth Social.
“Facebook, which has lost billions of dollars in value since “deplatforming” your beloved President, me, has now stated that they are reinstating my account. I apologize for the inconvenience.” It should never happen again to a president who is still in office, or to anyone else who does not merit retaliation! he had written.
On January 7, 2021, a day after the violent uprising of 2021, he was placed on administrative leave. Even though he was just reinstated on Twitter after Elon Musk assumed control of that company, he was banned from other social media networks for the time being. He does not have any tweets.
Trump has been forced to rely on Truth Social, a platform he established after being banned from Twitter and other major social media platforms.
