During the 76th edition of the highly anticipated Cannes Film Festival, the streets outside the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès are adorned with long red carpets, teeming with photographers capturing the glamorous scene. Celebrities and actors graced the occasion with their presence, showcasing some of the most elegant and extravagant looks ever seen. These ensembles are carefully chosen from the latest couture shows, sourced from the archives of renowned fashion houses, or meticulously tailored by luxury brands. For Balenciaga, this event presents an unparalleled opportunity to make a lasting impression and reclaim its prominence on the red carpets that truly matter.
Balenciaga has indeed made its mark on the Cannes red carpet. Prominent figures such as Michelle Yeoh, Salma Hayek, and Anok Yai proudly donned designs by Balenciaga during the festival. Notably, François-Henri Pinault, the president and CEO of Kering, the parent company of Balenciaga, expressed his unwavering support for the brand by wearing a custom-made tuxedo at the premiere of the film “Killers of the Flower Moon.”
Several artists showcased looks from Balenciaga’s Winter 23 collection. French actress Isabelle Huppert exuded elegance in a high-necked black lace dress, while Renata Litvinova enveloped herself in a long silk taffeta cape from the Cave Dress collection. American model Alton Mason made a statement in a double-breasted and corseted dress, complemented by gloves and sunglasses. The exception to the monochrome theme was Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh, who graced the red carpet in a vibrant green silk sheath dress, accessorized with black gloves, a shawl, and a magnificent Boucheron necklace. Yeoh was also photographed wearing a leather trench coat from Balenciaga’s Winter 23 collection upon her arrival in Cannes.
The Kering Women in Motion Awards event saw many stars dressed by Balenciaga. Italian supermodel Vittoria Ceretti, who had previously worn the brand at the Met Gala, stunned in a lace and rhinestone Winter 23 dress. Mexican actress Salma Hayek, the wife of François-Henri Pinault, wore a sparkling and alluring ensemble from the collection. Model Anok Yai and actress Roh Yoon Seo also showcased dresses from Balenciaga’s Haute Couture and Summer 23 collections, respectively. Isabelle Huppert looked sophisticated in a bespoke suit inspired by Balenciaga’s Haute Couture, while singer-songwriter Yseult exuded style in a look from the house’s Spring 23 line.
With its captivating designs adorning the red carpet, Balenciaga has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, reaffirming its prominence in the world of high fashion.
