Venezuelan host Carolina Sandoval came out in defense of singer Rihanna after she was criticized on social media for her appearance during the Super Bowl halftime show. Sandoval commented that Rihanna gave her all during the 13 minutes she was on stage, performing a repertoire spanning more than 17 years of work. For Sandoval, this is unacceptable, and it is time for women to stop being judged by their physique.
The Venezuelan presenter shared photos of herself pregnant with her daughter, Amalia Victoria, and asked for compassion and empathy for women going through this stage. Sandoval acknowledged that pregnancy is a magical stage, but it is also a time when women feel vulnerable and emotionally fragile. Therefore, it is not fair to criticize working women like Rihanna.
The artist, according to Sandoval, was brave to take the stage, despite being suspended and elevated in the air. Hateful comments related to her appearance are not what the presenter, who hopes for a world where success is celebrated without superficial judgments, expected.
