President Joe Biden enthusiastically participated in the annual “Take Your Child to Work Day” event at the White House. Sporting his signature aviator sunglasses, he was escorted to the South Lawn by a group of pint-sized “Secret Service agents.” Dozens of children were waiting for him, eager to ask him questions.
Biden spent more time answering questions from the kids than he had from the White House press corps in weeks. The kids asked him about his favorite ice cream flavor (chocolate chip), his favorite movie (Top Gun Maverick), his favorite color (blue), and what he had for breakfast (a croissant with scrambled eggs and bacon). Biden said that his mother and father were his biggest inspirations, and he was unsure of how many guards were in the White House.
The children stumped him with a question about which country he had last visited, but Biden was quick to remember that it was Ireland. He also mentioned that he had met 89 heads of state so far. Despite pretending to need to get back to work, Biden stayed to answer more questions from the children. He even took the opportunity to explain to the crowd of children why he would like to raise taxes on the wealthiest Americans. The children, most of them offspring of the White House press corps and staff, enjoyed their time with the president, and Biden seemed to enjoy it just as much.
